Late September on the Destin Harbor means one thing: the Destin Seafood Festival. It’s one of the town’s longest-running events, built around fresh Gulf seafood, live music, and a boardwalk that fills up fast — and it lands right before the Fishing Rodeo kicks off, making late September into October the busiest stretch of the fall calendar on the water.
When and where
The 2026 festival runs September 25–27 along the Harbor Boardwalk near HarborWalk Village — Friday evening through Sunday, with hours generally running late afternoon into the evening on Friday and a full day Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free; you pay as you go for food and drinks from the vendors.
What you’ll find
Expect fresh-shucked oysters, boiled shrimp, fried Gulf fish plates, and just about every other way to eat what comes out of local waters, alongside live music on multiple stages, local arts and crafts booths, and activities for kids along the boardwalk.
It kicks off Rodeo season
The festival lands the weekend before the Destin Fishing Rodeo begins on October 1, so if you’re planning a longer trip to Destin, late September through October is when the harbor is at its most festive — and its most crowded. Book charters and dinner reservations earlier than you normally would.
Seeing it from the water
The boardwalk gets packed, but the harbor itself doesn’t. A lot of our guests pair a morning or afternoon out at Crab Island with a festival evening on the boardwalk — swim and sandbar time first, then walk the festival once you’re back at the dock.
